Chris, we'll road trip somewhere someplace else sometime soon.
Matt & Ray, :(
Everybody else, I'm sad we didn't get the chance to hang out.
Um, I was looking at audition threads on the VAA for no apparent reason and now I'm tempted to audition for something. I see more than half of the original projects still contain characters with painfully irrelevant Japanese names! :D

I tried adding to my buddy list. Nikki, Axel, Fernie and Rika. I've already played with Fairuza and Klay. Come on, guys!
So, anyway, apparently coffee grounds are a great source of nitrogen, which plants love, and is excellent for balancing compost. So I went to Starbucks and asked them for used coffee grounds and came home with a whole trash bag full, LOL. We were turning the grounds into the pile and notice that a lot of the brown matter has already started composting into rich dark soil!
We also noticed that some leftover shallots and chives that we chucked into the compost pile weeks ago started growing. o_O They had made their way into the new soil and had sprouted like crazy, rofl. So now we have chives and shallots in our garden.
Arrghhh
I planted lots of bulb plants, as well as watermelon. We're growing lots of herbs, and an orange tree and an avocado tree.
We started a compost pile yesterday. I feel so green. I got these nifty gardening gloves--all I need now is a big sun hat and and heart-framed sunglasses and my transformation into a total gardening queer will be complete!
Mike wants to put Cedar's poo in the compost, but I say no. NO!

Which name looks scarier/more intimidating?
Siddhartha -or- Rambaldi
o.o
School is good. Mike and Cedar are well. Mike and I just bought a house.
Yes.
WE PURCHASED A FREAKING HOUSE! We are now home owners! Domestic gays!
It's got three bedrooms, an awesome front yard (fully landscaped), and a very large fenced backyard so Cedar can run around freely and unleashed. We have a very large front porch (a wooden deck), where we put up a porch swing. I was just out there, drinking my Aquafina and swinging on the swing. I got bitten on the legs by mosquitoes approximately 30 times.
Grr!
Good lord, that was a lot of butter. Good lord, there are a lot of cookies. Good lord, these cookies are so fucking rich. The chocolate he used for the chocolate chips is Ghighirardelli, so the chips have a fruity, tangy quality to them. Very delicious. Did I mention they were rich? Good lord, they are fucking rich.
Here it is:
Thank You, Behemoth
I grew up apathetic to the concept of God and religion. Over time, what little concern I had for religion and the supernatural diminished as an interest in physics, astronomy, human history, and other personal concerns grew to take their place—interests that remain a part of me to this day. I had no spiritual or worldview summation of my own to describe my personal philosophies or lifestyle, nor was I actively seeking one. I was merely existing; content to take life for what it was, but without probing what itself was important or significant about life to me. A road trip down the Pacific coast changed that.
My partner, Michael, and I were driving down the
During one of many stops in the forests, I took a picture of Michael with our digital camera—he was leaning against a tree, a giant (even for a redwood). I took the picture from elevated ground, several dozens of meters away. I was taken aback when I previewed the picture on the camera’s LCD monitor. Michael looked tiny, like a twig, at the base of the behemoth redwood. The tree was so tall that it stood several hundreds of feet far beyond what the camera was able to capture.
The next day, we had arrived in
( read the rest; don't worry, it's not much longer :P )
I watched Children of Men today. I have no words. Watch it.
Watch it.
It's kind of loud, though; I assume that's because we have bare floors (tile), and it would probably run much quieter on carpet.
Cedar freaked out at first. He barked at it, lol. And every time it went near one of his toys, he'd hurry towards it, pick it up, and move it to safety. Hahaha.
Anyway, it REALLY helps out with Cedar's shedding. Pretty awesome. Michael's been looking up hacks for it. o_O Who knew you could hack a Roomba? I guess you can hack anything these days.

ROFL.
We did really carve the first one (it's Morpheus/Dream from Sandman). Behind the cut:
( the real carved one )
Finally, a group of happy children came a'knocking on our door, but Cedar started barking like crazy and they all ran away. LOL
- Neglecting my awesome internet connection.
- Hung out with Dennis and Kevin when Dennis was in town. He gets out of the military next July! I can't wait.
- Mike and I spent the 4th of July holiday at Kevin's place. We brought Cedar, whom played with Kevin's dog, Bailey. We all had a great time.
- All signed up for college. Just need to schedule my classes. I'm sickeningly excited.
- I played Pangya for the first time in ages with Klay yesterday. I got a beam impact hole-in-one on the first hole!
- Obsessed with books lately. A recent enjoyment: "The World to Come" by Dara Horn.
- Currently finishing up "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov. Excellent, disgusting, thoroughly gratifying read. I'm burning the 1997 movie as I type this. :P
- Mike and I watched all of Season 1 and 2 of Avatar. WE NEED MORE.
- We also have been watching 30 Rock nonstop. Much love to Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.
- Craving writing. I find myself, lately, eager to write letters and stories.
- Restless as all hell. I need change!
I want to Iparty. Do you guys still do that? Hiiii, Nikki! Hiiii, Matt! Hiiiii, Beckie and Axel and Klay and Fernie and Fair and Cody and Edwyn and Windy and Rika and Kendra and everybody else I've forgotten (feel free to bitch me out in a comment)!
You New Yorkers will probably especially appreciate this clip. Hehe.
I got them yesterday. I was debating between a bike and roller blades, but the blades were on sale, so I got those and used the left over money to buy some outdoorsy/activewear shorts and t-shirts and a bottle of sunblock. The girl at the check out counter said, "It looks like you're ready for summer!"
"Do as the locals do," I said.
I felt like I had just gotten a new pet and I was buying all of the necessary stuff like food bowls and treats and whatnot. Oh, well. The Hyde Park neighborhood is the expensive and trendy, beautiful people neighborhood of urban Tampa. Especially since I'm right next to Bayshore and people love jogging/biking/walking/skating/walking their dogs by the water. I see so many people outside here being all fit and active and pretty.
I promised myself I'd get outside more and be more active. Skating was fun, but I haven't used roller blades since I was in middle school--it took a while to get used to them again. I still haven't gotten the complete hang of them, yet, but at least I didn't fall over and bust my head open! I need to learn how to use the breaks.
My ankles are sore! Yay! When you're a hurtin', you knows you did it right!
What's ironic is that after moving back to Florida from Washington, of all places I got a freaking tan on vacation in Connecticut.
----------------------------------------
Spending a week with him and then coming home to my hermit ways has been a painful reminder of just how badly I need to make some friends in the area. Human interaction = good. How I'm going to do this, exactly, I still have no idea.
----------------------------------------
Speaking of friends, when I got back from my trip I found a message from Lora saying that she's going to be down in Florida again and her stay will be longer than last time, so hopefully that means we'll actually get to hang out this time! Goody. I miss her.
----------------------------------------
I saw an advisor at HCC the other day about enrolling for the fall semester. I have to get my application done and have CCHS forward them my transcripts, but every time I call CCHS the line is busy. I have a dreadful feeling that they are completely shut down for the summer. If all else fails, I guess I'll just call the school board.
Oh, big dillemma: In order to qualify as a "Florida resident" and thus be able to pay "Florida resident" tuition rates, I must prove that I have been living in the state for at least 12 months. Fuck! This is only slightly better than 2 years, which is what I thought the requirement was before.
Also, because I'm under 24, I am considered a dependant of my parents, so they have to complete forms and stuff to complete my application. On the other hand, I can also claim to be an independent, meaning that they do NOT have me listed as a dependant on their tax forms (which is the case). BUT, according to USF--which I am also considering applying for--I can also use my parents' residency to qualify as a Florida resident.... Which only confuses me more as to what the hell I'm supposed to do.
So I have to make a bijillion phone calls and visits to schools in the next few days to get all of this straightened out.
La la la.
