Where I live, these flies occasionally strike unmercifully. Damn you, Fox Trail, for being a horse friendly community. They bite people, you know, and it feels like getting snapped with a large rubberband. Except it is much more painful. I attribute my ability to stay underwater for long periods of time to the persistence of the horsefly.

Actually when I was driving through Texas at some of the rest stops they had flies that looked very similiar to this. CREEPY. Really.
Biting insects are irritating. XD
